Huawei has introduced the FreeBuds Pro 5, its new premium wireless earbuds positioned as a rival to Apple’s AirPods Pro 3. Priced at $200, the new model features innovations such as lossless audio technology, significantly improved noise cancellation capabilities, and advanced drivers.
Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 Launched
The FreeBuds Pro 5 are the world’s first headphones to feature a dual-unit, dual-channel active noise cancellation system. The headphones use two acoustic units to generate inverse sound waves, effectively reducing ambient noise.
For audio performance, they utilize an ultra-linear dual-magnetic circuit structure that can reach bass frequencies down to 10 Hz. The thin micro-planar tweeter can reach frequencies up to 48 kHz.
The model’s most notable technical feature is NearLink Audio support. The FreeBuds Pro 5 utilizes NearLink E2.0 short-range wireless audio transmission technology. Thanks to the device’s Kirin A3 processor, physical transmission speeds reach up to 16 Mbps.
Additionally, they offer dual-band communication support from 2.5 GHz to 5.8 GHz. This dual-band antenna structure maintains a stable connection even in high-signal environments such as subways, trains, or airports. The headphones can deliver 4.6 Mbps lossless audio transmission at 96 kHz/24-bit with the L2HC5.0 codec.
For noise cancellation, the new MIMO AI model instantly detects ambient noise and automatically adjusts the optimal noise cancellation level. This new technology improves noise cancellation by 220 percent compared to previous models.
Use time information has also been announced. On a single charge, the FreeBuds Pro 5 offers up to 6 hours of use with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on and 9 hours with it off. Total use time with the charging case goes up to 33 hours.
The headphones are also IP67 certified for water and dust resistance. It also has additional features such as intelligent volume adjustment, two-way silent calling, advanced recording feature, Star-shine connection offering high-speed data transfer, AI summarization and AI hands-free talking mode.
